Birmingham City FC Score with IMI
Premier League club Birmingham City have installed IMI air conditioning equipment at their St Andrews Stadium, as part of the upgrading of facilities for hosting top flight football following their promotion last season.
A new state-of-the-art control centre for use by police and stadium security officers houses banks of screens and the computers that, among other things, control CCTV cameras for monitoring crowds in each section of the ground. Creating and maintaining an environment in which the equipment and personnel can operate at optimum efficiency is essential.
To achieve this, Jones Eastwood Ltd of Birmingham selected and installed a CD3 010 downflow Close Control Unit manufactured by IMI Air Conditioning Ltd and supplied by Somerset-based distributor Heronhill Air Conditioning. IMI s CD3 Series is designed to provide air conditioning for applications where close control of temperature and humidity is vital. Because of the low ceiling height of the control room, swirl-type diffusers were fitted to minimise draughts.
The new-style unit, with Carel controllers, incorporates a 10kW electric heater, and is linked to a matching MCU+ 100 air cooled condensing unit, also supplied by Heronhill.
David Thomas of Jones Eastwood said, We chose the CD3 because it was the most suitable unit on the market to do the job required.
